Trace
A correlated collection of spans representing the end-to-end execution path of one logical request or transaction.
Observability Context
A trace is a correlated set of spans representing the end-to-end execution of one logical request or transaction. Its graph can expose service boundaries, downstream dependencies, retries, parallel branches, and error propagation that are difficult to infer from isolated logs.
Representation Boundary
A trace is not a single log record. It is a structured causal relationship among multiple operations that share trace identity.
