Span

Turkish equivalent: İşlem aralığıDomain: Observability

A timed unit of work within a distributed trace, representing an operation together with attributes, events, status, and parent-child relationships.

Observability Context

A span represents one timed unit of work within a trace, such as an HTTP handler, database query, or child task. Attributes, events, status, links, and parent-child relationships describe what happened and how the operation relates to the rest of the request.

Instrumentation Boundary

Turning every method into a span is not useful instrumentation. Span boundaries should correspond to meaningful operations, dependencies, or causal stages, with naming and attribute cardinality designed for analysis.
