Semantic Conventions
Standardized names and meanings for telemetry attributes, span operations, resources, and events so independently instrumented systems remain interoperable.
Observability Context
Semantic conventions standardize names and meanings for telemetry attributes, resources, spans, events, metrics, logs, and profiles. A shared vocabulary reduces the chance that equivalent operations are emitted under incompatible labels by different services or instrumentation libraries.
Semantics Boundary
Following a naming convention does not make telemetry correct. Instrumentation points, units, cardinality, aggregation, and the operational meaning of the measurement still depend on implementation.
