Filter Bank
A collection of band-selective filters that decomposes a signal into multiple frequency regions for analysis, coding, or feature extraction.
Signal Processing Context
A filter bank splits a signal or spectrum into multiple frequency bands so that each band can be analyzed or processed separately. Mel filter banks are a common speech-processing example and form the stage before logarithmic compression in log-Mel and MFCC pipelines.
Measurement Boundary
The number, spacing, bandwidth, normalization, and overlap of filters define the representation. Two implementations described simply as a filter bank therefore need not produce compatible features.
