Convolution

Turkish equivalent: EvrişimDomain: Signal Processing

An operation that combines two signals or functions by integrating or summing their shifted products, fundamental to linear time-invariant filtering.

Signal Processing Context

Convolution combines an input signal with an impulse response and is the central operation used to describe linear time-invariant systems. In discrete time it becomes a weighted sum over shifted samples; FIR filtering is a direct implementation of this operation.

Measurement Boundary

Convolution and correlation are related but not identical operations. Implementations may use direct computation or FFT-based methods depending on sequence length, latency requirements, and block processing constraints.
