Redo Log Buffer

Turkish equivalent: Redo log tamponuDomain: Oracle

The SGA memory area in which Oracle accumulates redo entries before LGWR writes them to online redo logs.

Oracle Runtime Context

The redo log buffer is an SGA memory area in which Oracle accumulates redo entries before LGWR persists them to online redo logs. Redo generation rate, commit frequency, storage latency, and log-switch behavior all influence this durability path.

Memory Boundary

The redo log buffer is not a data-block cache. Redo holds change information for recovery, while the buffer cache holds database blocks used by queries and modifications.
