Digital-to-Analog Converter
Digital-to-Analog Converter — A circuit that converts discrete digital values into a corresponding analog voltage, current, or waveform.
Embedded-System Context
A DAC converts digital codes into an analog voltage, current, or waveform. Audio output, waveform generation, and control systems depend on resolution, settling time, reference stability, update rate, and any reconstruction filtering after the converter.
Signal Boundary
The converter output is not a mathematically ideal continuous signal. Quantization, zero-order hold behavior, switching artifacts, and the load determine the physical waveform that is actually produced.
