Priority Inheritance
A real-time synchronization protocol that temporarily raises a lock holder's priority to that of a higher-priority task blocked on the same resource.
Real-Time Systems Context
Priority inheritance temporarily raises the priority of a task holding a required lock to the priority of a higher-priority task blocked on that resource. RTOS mutexes use the technique to bound or reduce selected forms of priority inversion.
Scheduling Boundary
Priority inheritance does not prevent deadlock and does not eliminate every blocking chain. Nested locks, transitive blocking, and the scheduler's resource-sharing model still require analysis.
