Oracle ASM
Oracle's volume and file-management layer that groups disks into disk groups and automatically stripes and rebalances database storage.
Technical Context
ASM abstracts database files from individual device paths and can provide redundancy at the storage layer. Disk-group failure groups, allocation units, rebalance operations, capacity headroom, and underlying SAN/NVMe behavior still determine failure and performance characteristics.
