Cursor Sharing
The Oracle mechanisms and policies that determine whether SQL statements can reuse parsed cursors and execution metadata.
Oracle Runtime Context
Cursor sharing describes Oracle's ability and policy for reusing parsed SQL cursors and associated execution metadata. Stable SQL text, bind variables, and client-side statement caching can reduce repeated parse work; adaptive cursor sharing can create multiple child cursors when bind selectivity differs materially.
Plan Boundary
Sharing a statement does not mean every bind value must use one immutable plan forever. Optimizer features and child-cursor criteria can preserve multiple plans for the same logical SQL.
