My Marmara University M.Sc. in Cybersecurity experience connecting secure coding, network defense, cryptology, penetration testing, data mining/machine learning and a spyware term project with digital forensics.
How I Relate the Program to My Engineering Work
I entered Marmara University's M.Sc. in Cybersecurity with an existing background in digital forensics and software development. The useful part of the program was the opportunity to connect secure coding, network defense, cryptology, penetration testing, data mining and machine learning as different layers of the same attack and defense surface.
Secure coding emphasized application-level validation and injection risks; network and wireless security addressed communication boundaries; cryptology made it necessary to distinguish confidentiality, integrity and authentication instead of using "security" as one undifferentiated property.
One term project focused on spyware. I view that work not simply as "developing malware," but as a technical examination of covert data collection, persistence, communication behavior and the forensic traces such software can leave.
The lasting influence on my current critical-system work is to treat security as part of data flow, authorization boundaries and failure design rather than as a checklist added after implementation.
How I Position the Technical Scope of the Degree
I keep this page as a record of the master's degree I completed, not as a current admissions guide. Secure coding, network defence, cryptology, penetration testing and data-mining work complemented my earlier digital forensics background by exposing different layers of the same operational system. In practice, a security incident rarely remains a purely network or application problem; logging, memory, database state, access control and the evidence required for later examination all interact.
The phrase "cybersecurity engineering" is not used here to imply a separate undergraduate programme. This page specifically describes my M.Sc. in Cybersecurity at Marmara University. Admission requirements, curricula and quotas can change, so the record deliberately focuses on my completed education and its technical relevance.
