Multimedia forensics focused on integrity, working copies, metadata, model outputs and reproducibility across image and audio evidence.
Multimedia forensics examines the integrity, provenance, processing history and content of image and audio data. The central requirement is that analysis remains reproducible and traceable to source evidence.
Evidence preservation
The original file is preserved unchanged and verified with a cryptographic hash. Analysis is performed on a working copy. Software, version, parameters and derived files are recorded as part of the processing history.
Metadata can provide useful context but does not prove authenticity on its own. EXIF fields, container metadata and file-system timestamps may change during ordinary copying or conversion.
Image and audio examination
Multimedia forensics may examine compression structure, sensor characteristics, geometry and metadata consistency in images, and sampling properties, codec history, spectral discontinuities and room acoustics in audio.
OCR, object detection, speaker comparison and other AI methods can accelerate triage and classification in large collections. Their outputs should remain distinguishable from direct measurement as probabilistic model results.
Generative processing
Denoising, inpainting and generative enhancement can create new detail. Original bytes, hashes, timing information and processing history should therefore remain independently preserved from analytical derivatives.
