Hot Partition
A shard or partition that receives a disproportionate share of traffic, storage, or computation and becomes a localized bottleneck.

A hot partition receives a disproportionate share of requests, storage, or computation and becomes a local bottleneck even when the rest of the cluster is lightly loaded. Monotonic keys, poor partition keys, or one very popular tenant can concentrate CPU, I/O, and queue pressure on a single node.
Capacity Boundary
Low aggregate cluster utilization does not rule out a hotspot. Per-partition traffic, latency, queue depth, and resource metrics are needed to detect the imbalance. Salting, key redesign, or adaptive splitting may be appropriate responses.
