A capacity-protection mechanism that decides whether new work may enter a system based on resource state, policy, quotas, or concurrency limits.
Resilience Context
Admission control decides whether new work may enter a system according to concurrency, queue age, deadlines, tenant quotas, or current resource pressure. Rejecting work before it joins an overloaded queue can make failure faster and more predictable than allowing latency and memory use to grow without bound.
Control Boundary
Admission control can overlap with rate limiting but may react dynamically to instantaneous capacity rather than only a configured request rate.
