Living beings requires knowledge in order to sustain their lives.
When the first life form was formed, the adventure of information in the living world began. After that information obtained from various sources transferred to other living things and transmitted between generations.
This essay is a description that identifies the evolution of wisdom.
First it discusses the history of knowledge. Next moves on to methods of acquiring information through the analysis of the information pyramid. Then, all common processes are evaluated. The instances are limited to the "information pyramid" as there are many other theories.
From 3 million years till the emergence of humanity and even now, information has been verbalized, learned by hearing or seeing and stored in the part called "memory" of the human brain.
After, humans try to adjust the behaviors such as hearing, seeing and learning within machines and information systems.
While humans were living needs increased and research on these systems continued. Finally, systems offered "information processing systems" that are similar to, and in some ways even better than, living systems.
According to "the information pyramid", which is a tool to describe information gathering process, there are basically 4 layers.
The lowest layer, "data", is the plural of the Latin word "datum". Data is discrete, raw and objective.
It is held in relevant storage units with datasets, databases and data structures. Data is acquired, generated, quantified, calculated, compiled and evaluated. Related processes involve data reliability, security and communication. For instance codes, signs, numbers, words are facts of data.
The upper layer is "information". This layer presents the illustration of process and its reach to meaning and purpose within a context.
Sentences, paragraphs, equations, thoughts and questions are encountered at this stage. Above the latter is the "knowledge layer". It is considered as "information" that has passed through application filters such as synthesis, evaluation, experience and foresight. Knowledge is personal.
The final stage of the this long process that starts with acquiring knowledge is called "wisdom".
As a result, knowledge is power and for centuries, societies that have been able to attain wisdom have been the masters of ignorant societies. Studies on human beings attainment of wisdom have also increased in recent years.
According to the perspective of these studies, wisdom is a character trait and is characterized as one's strength.
Philosophy, on the other hand, is characterized as "the love of wisdom" and therefore refers to "the effort to attain wisdom".
Since wisdom is a deep concept that is related to many disciplines, it is thought that it may be useful to try to comprehend wisdom by using the concepts of different disciplines and to examine it with individual life stories.
